French Authorities Publish Ban on Tobacco Brand Names

Today, the French Ministry of Health and Ministry of Budget have published the result of their review of all tobacco product names in the French market.

As further described in company announcement no. 3/2017 (30 January 2017), the French authorities consider the use of Scandinavian Tobacco Group's Café Crème brand name for cigars to be a violation of the French Public Health Code. Also the brand name Paradise is banned.

The bans are announced to take effect from 1 February 2018. The sales in France of Café Crème and Paradise together represent close to 4% of the Group's net sales.

Scandinavian Tobacco Group will appeal the decision to the French courts.
